Use of the public verification surface

The public verification surface is available for legitimate verification of a known REP Number™. It is not a search engine for individuals. The following are prohibited:

• Enumeration of REP Numbers™ by brute force, scripting, or any other automated mechanism.
• Bulk scraping of verification responses.
• Use of verification data to make adverse decisions about individuals outside of legitimate hospital, surveyor, or vendor-credentialing contexts.
• Republishing verification data with the appearance that it was issued by HVC itself for any record other than the one originally queried.

Rate limiting

The public verification endpoint is rate-limited per client. Repeated rapid requests will be challenged with a CAPTCHA and may be temporarily blocked. The rate limits exist to protect the registry and the individuals listed in it.

No warranty

The verification surface is provided on an "as is" basis. While we operate to a real-time freshness standard, we do not warrant that any single query result is suitable for a particular purpose. Hospitals and credentialing organisations should treat the verification result as one input among several.
